Golden Milk

I admit, like so many things my favorite man suggests I try, I was skeptical. One, I’m a coffee snob drinker and just recently found the courage to add green tea into my diet, so the thought of anything yellow and warm … well, let’s just say the idea didn’t sit well with me.

So a few weeks ago I’d just gotten back from a run/walk in the pouring rain and was freezing. And by freezing I mean just a touch above shaking uncontrollably and crying. Yes, I’m a wuss, but that’s irrelevant. I was cold. Very. So I stripped off my outer layer and proceeded to do a little yoga on the living room floor. Eric was “working” from home when after listening to me whine for what felt like an entire day, disappeared into the kitchen and a few minutes later came back with a mug full of something that smelled amazing but again, was yellow and warm.

Before I could utter even one short word, he’d pushed it in front of my face, “Drink it. Don’t make that face … just do it.”

Still skeptical but also knowing full and well that I pretty much had no choice, I took the cup into my hands, sipped and OMG just like I’d fallen for him the very first time I saw him, I fell into this liquid with all my senses and was immediately thankful and content. Of course I couldn’t let him know … but if he’s reading this now, well, cat’s out of the bag (so to speak). So thank you, babe. It’s delicious, just like you (wink, wink). But don’t just take my word for it … try it yourself—the golden milk, that is, not him … I’m not sharing.

GOLDEN MILK

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 piece of ginger
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp honey

Place all ingredients in a blender until combined. Warm in a saucepan but don’t bring to a boil. Serve immediately … enjoy!

Live consciously, love fiercely, and eat well.
