YouTube Launch—cooking shorts and full podcast episodes coming soon

Food is part of my healing story — not the villain, not the obsession, but the quiet companion that helped me rebuild a life I want to live. Of course if you spend much time here at The Flexitarian Prescription, then you already know that. But I didn’t arrive here gracefully. I grew up around confusing food rules, developed an eating disorder that shadowed my childhood and my collegiate athletic career, and spent years surviving on deception, shame, and “barely managing.” Letting go of the scale — and the illusion of control it gave me — was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

But now? Now I cook to nourish, not punish. I eat to live, not to shrink. And I share these recipes and moments because thriving is a choice I make every day.

And … insert loud drumroll … I launched my YouTube channel and podcast, “Finally Striving and Seriously Irritated”—part confession, part commentary (based on my blog by the same name).

Join host Shauna Gabriel, a writer and freelance journalist, as she shares unfiltered, personal stories of how she stopped being polite about the life she wanted and started moving through the world like she was born to take up space. Where plant‑forward cooking meets real‑life healing. Slow changes. Simple swaps. A less complicated way of living, eating, and being present in the world. If you’re exploring a flexitarian lifestyle — or just trying to make peace with food — you’re in the right place.

Check it out on YouTube—you can also listen on Spotify, Apple, or wherever you get your podcasts. I’ll be sharing lots of cooking shorts along with other content. The first episode and trailer are up … but be forewarned, if you’re looking for a gentle self-help podcast … you’ve taken a wrong turn. This isn’t a scrapbook—it’s unfiltered talk.
